The "JP Foods Division" is a commercial arm of the Jamaica Producers Group's (JPG) operations in Jamaica. At JP Foods, we sell both fresh produce and processed tropical snacks. Our fresh produce business is Jamaica's leading supplier of bananas and our tropical snacks business is Jamaica's leading manufacturer of banana chips.

JP Fresh Produce

JP Fresh Produce, our fresh produce wholesale business, is based in Kingston, Jamaica. We maintain two ripening centres and wholesale depots and a produce packing facility. We source our produce from select farmers in farming communities across the island of Jamaica, and we sell our produce on the Jamaican market as well as to buyers in North America and the United Kingdom.

Our origins are in the banana business and this product continues to represent the largest share of our sales. We purchase our bananas principally from farms operated by our sister division - JP Farms - in St. Mary and St. Thomas, Jamaica. As such, we are confident that they are grown to international standards for quality, environmental safety and employee safety. Both of the farms from which we source bananas are ISO 14001 and ISO 9002 compliant. We supply ripe and green bananas to all of Jamaica's major supermarket chains, as well as to restaurants, hotels and local outdoor markets. We also supply bananas to all of the major industrial banana processors in Jamaica. These customers use bananas principally for savoury banana chips-a favourite Jamaican snack.

Although we started out in bananas, JP Fresh Produce is now a full service tropical produce business. We are wholesalers of Yellow Yam, Negro Yam, Sweet Yam, Cocoes, Pumpkins, Sweet Potatoes, Dasheen, Sugar Cane, Yampies and even Water Coconuts. This part of our business trades primarily on the export market with produce distributors in the United States and the United Kingdom. Our "ethnic produce" business has required us to develop relationships with independent small farmers across the island of Jamaica. We buy produce from these farmers and each week we pack, ship and identify buyers for their goods.

JP Snacks

JP Snacks, a division of JP Foods, manufactures tropical snacks in Agualta Vale, St. Mary, Jamaica. Our advanced equipment and modern facility have given us the competitive edge, making us Jamaica's leading manufacturer of savoury banana chips and plantain chips. We sell under our own brands - "Jamaica Best," "St. Mary's," "Patsees" and "Producers" and contract pack for other local brands. Our plantain and banana chips are a popular choice for Jamaican school children and busy commuters. They are also an excellent tropical hors d' oeuvre and may be served with a dip or sauce. Our snacks are carried in most of the major Jamaican supermarkets snack food retailers and can be found at the departure lounge stores at both of Jamaica's international airports and in many of our hotels.
