St. Mary Banana Estates, producers of the finest bananas in the Caribbean, has created a new agri-adventure tour for all visitors and banana loving people.

Entrenched in the lush, aesthetically pleasing surroundings of a little town called Annotto Bay, this unique attraction is located 40 minutes from the famous resort town of Ocho Rios on Jamaica’s North Coast, and is only an hour drive from the capital, Kingston. 

The Banana Walk tour is an informative and fun visit to the most modern, environmentally friendly banana farm in the Caribbean. Learn the history of banana farming in Jamaica and visit one of the places where it all began almost a century ago. Come visit our modern packing facility and interact with our people.

Learn how the little town of Anotto Bay has come alive as a result of this industry.

The tour begins at the Polo Common Grounds, a 30-hectare orchard where you will be able to see trees of all types and varieties grown in Jamaica.   Now follow the path through our lush banana plantation, bordering on the Wag-Water River.  Ensure that you wear suitable footwear because it’s a pulsating walk through one of Jamaica’s most fertile farms, “where everything grows”.

Then it’s off to the Polo Common Pack House where you can witness first hand the de-handing, selecting, washing, boxing and palletizing of all our Europe-bound banana products. Bring your camera because there lots to see.     After all that adventure it’s time to sit back, relax and listen to some reggae music, enjoy brunch with authentic Jamaican cuisine and sip our famous banana rum punch.  Menu Special. Ackee & Salt fish and boiled green bananas.

Oh, don’t forget to take home with you some Banana Goodies available for sale at the same location. Sample our fresh tropical snacks and oven- fresh banana bread.

Lunch Tours are available • Standard tours are approximately 50 minutes • Tour times Mondays to Thursdays between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.  • Children are welcome • The property is environmentally friendly • Available for family outings, picnics, research outings • All students of Agronomy, Geology and Natural Sciences are welcome • All visitors will be accompanied by trained tour guide
